Council approval is no problem as it has been done lots of times in South Africa. You just need to appoint a structural Engineer to the project (who carries the structural liability), then one can quite easily get building plan approval. Mamre Revitalization Project is an initiative by the City of Cape Town to promote the preservation and restoration of Mamre’s rich heritage resources, while helping to alleviate poverty and promote skills transfer. Eco Design Architects have been appointed by the city to assist the community with this project. Click here for more info or go to Mamre Revitalization Project Website
We offer a number of construction & info manuals on our website on natural building technologies which specifically refer to the South African context. The info manual "A LIME DUNG PLASTER RECIPE" has recently been added to the collection. Click here for more information.
All our manuals are also now available as E-Book downloads. Click here for the E-Books.
