Alterations and additions on House Alblas in Mc Gregor design changes to existing dwelling included; removed existing staircase and replace with newly design timber staircase. Additional stoeps, verandas & pergolas added to enhance outside areas.
On the first floor the kitchen area was remodelled, Main bedroom extended and remodelling to the en-suite. Alterations to the lounge ceiling with added insulation. Additional garage & bedroom with an en-suite.
On the second floor the existing mezzamine area was extended and closed up with dry walling facing the lounge area. Additional new terrace with stairs.
The following sustainable architectural aspects has been included: installation of dry composting toilets and solar water heating as well as the harvesting and use of local sustainable timbers and use of non-toxic paints and finishes. The alterations were made with the use of mud bricks made on site with the local soil.
